"Excellent instructions!  Here is a picture of my first tote bag ever!
The project took me 2 3/4 hours from start to finish, not including
making up my mind which fabrics to use."

"I did make the handles a bit longer, based on a store-bought tote bag
that I like. Also, the grey part at the bottom is an additional layer,
not just pieced in. So: I layered the top and the lining, AND cut a
third piece the width of the top and about 13" in its short dimension.
Folded/pressed the long edges under, and topstitched it onto the outer
part. I did that because I wanted extra strength in the bottom. With
the extra layer, the French seams got pretty bulky in places, but it
was manageable."

"... made 2 of them yesterday. I used 4 Fat Quarters & 1 yard for the lining + webbing for the handles. If I hadn't stopped to chat, eat & buy fabric for today's class, I would have gotten them done sooner. I'd never done French seams before so that took some extra time. You won't have any problems, Pat's instructions are great."

I have made several and have now had several customers ask me to make some for them!
I really like this bag because it is very sturdy and I love how all the seams are enclosed. A very nice finished product. Your instructions were complete and easy to understand.
